Eurotas
The Eurotas is the main river of Laconia in the southern Peloponnese, Greece, flowing past Sparta into the Laconian Gulf. Its fertile valley was the heart of the Mycenaean kingdom remembered as that of Menelaus and later of the Spartan state. In antiquity it was linked with many myths and cults, among them those of Helen.
