Laconia
Laconia is a region of the south-eastern Peloponnese in Greece, centred on the Eurotas valley between the Taygetus and Parnon mountains. In the Mycenaean age it held the kingdom remembered in Homer as that of Menelaus, and from the Archaic period it was the territory of Sparta. It is now a regional unit with its capital at Sparta.
