Fall of Beijing (1644)
The fall of Beijing in 1644 was the capture of the Ming capital by the rebel army of Li Zicheng. The Chongzhen Emperor took his own life, ending the Ming Empire's rule over China. Shortly afterwards the Manchu Qing forces, admitted through the Great Wall, drove out the rebels and established their own dynasty in Beijing.
