Fall of Seville

1248 · 13th century · Part of the Reconquista

The fall of Seville was the capture of the city by Ferdinand III of Castile in 1248 after a long siege. Seville had been the Almohad Caliphate's main capital in al-Andalus, and its loss confirmed the end of Almohad power in the Iberian Peninsula.
