Frederick the Fair

c. 1289–1330 · 14th century · Also known as Frederick I of Austria

Frederick the Fair was a Habsburg Duke of Austria and Styria from 1308 and German anti-king from 1314, elected by one faction against Louis IV of Bavaria. Defeated and captured by Louis at the Battle of Mühldorf in 1322, he was held prisoner until 1325, when the two rivals agreed to share the royal title. He had little real power thereafter and died in 1330.
