Hermigar

d. 429 · 5th century

Hermigar was a king of the Suebi in Hispania in the early 5th century. In 429, as the Vandals under Gaiseric prepared to cross to Africa, his Suebi were plundering Lusitania; the Vandals defeated him near Emerita Augusta (Mérida), and he drowned in the Guadiana while fleeing. The episode is recorded by the chronicler Hydatius.
