Iblul-Il

24th century BCE · 24th century BCE

Iblul-Il was a king of Mari on the Euphrates in the twenty-fourth century BCE. A letter found at Ebla records his campaigns against towns in Ebla's sphere along the middle Euphrates and in northern Syria, after which Ebla paid tribute to Mari. A statue of him with a dedicatory inscription was found at Mari, and he is one of the best-attested rulers of its Early Dynastic city.
