Ibo Island

Ibo is a small island of the Quirimbas archipelago off Cabo Delgado province in northern Mozambique. Settled by the Portuguese, it became a fortified town in the late 18th century, the capital of the Cabo Delgado district and a centre of the slave and ivory trade. It was the first headquarters of the Niassa Company before the move to Porto Amélia, now Pemba, and its old town is a candidate World Heritage Site.
