Imbabura Province
Imbabura is a province in the northern highlands of Ecuador, with its capital at Ibarra, named after the Imbabura volcano. It was the homeland of the Caranqui, who resisted the Inca in the late 15th century. Today it is known for the indigenous market town of Otavalo and its mountain lakes, among them Yahuarcocha.
