Pichincha Province
Pichincha is a province in the northern highlands of Ecuador, containing the capital, Quito, and named after the Pichincha volcano that rises above the city. Before the Inca conquest its northern part was home to the Caranqui and Cayambi, whose mound sites such as Cochasquí survive. It is the most populous province of the Ecuadorian highlands.
