Ingolstadt

Ingolstadt is a city in Upper Bavaria, Germany, on the Danube. From 1392 to 1447 it was the capital of the Duchy of Bavaria-Ingolstadt, and in 1472 Duke Louis IX of Bavaria-Landshut founded Bavaria's first university there, which moved to Landshut and then Munich in the early 19th century. It was long a Bavarian fortress and is now the headquarters of the carmaker Audi.
