Irish Parliamentary Party

1882–1922 · 19th century

The Irish Parliamentary Party was the Irish nationalist party in the UK House of Commons that campaigned for Home Rule. Organised under Charles Stewart Parnell, it held the balance of power in 1885–1886 and again from 1910 under John Redmond, but after the Easter Rising and the conscription crisis it was swept aside by Sinn Féin in the general election of 1918.
