Ishtaran

Ishtaran was a Mesopotamian god, the patron of the city of Der on the Elamite border. He was regarded as a divine judge and was invoked in border disputes, including a famous one between Lagash and Umma. His attendant was the snake god Nirah, and snakes appear on Babylonian boundary stones as his symbol.
