Umma
Umma was a Sumerian city in southern Mesopotamia, at the site of Tell Jokha in Dhi Qar province, Iraq, north-west of Lagash. Its patron god was Shara. In the Early Dynastic period it fought a long border war with Lagash over the Gu-edena plain, and its king Lugal-zage-si conquered Lagash and much of Sumer before falling to Sargon of Akkad. Thousands of administrative tablets of the Third Dynasty of Ur come from the site.
