Izu Province
Izu Province was an old province of Japan covering the Izu Peninsula and the Izu Islands, now part of Shizuoka Prefecture and Tokyo. Minamoto no Yoritomo lived there in exile before raising his revolt in 1180. In the 1490s Ise Moritoki, later called Hojo Soun, seized Izu, the first base of the Later Hojo clan, and the peninsula is known for its hot springs.
