Jangchub-Ö
Jangchub-Ö was a royal monk of the kingdom of Guge in western Tibet in the 11th century, a kinsman of Yeshe-Ö. Continuing his family's patronage of Buddhism, he sent envoys to invite the Indian teacher Atisha, who came to Guge in 1042 and wrote the Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment at his request. This visit began the later diffusion of Buddhism in Tibet.
