Jatila Parantaka Nedunjadaiyan

r. c. 765–815 · 8th century · Also known as Varaguna I

Jatila Parantaka Nedunjadaiyan was a king of the Pandya dynasty of Madurai in the late 8th and early 9th centuries, often identified with Varaguna I. He extended Pandya power over much of the Tamil country, fighting the Pallavas and the chiefs of the Kongu region. His Velvikudi copper-plate grant, written in Sanskrit and Tamil, records the genealogy of the dynasty and is a key source for early Pandya history.
