Jehoshaphat

9th century BCE · 9th century BCE

Jehoshaphat was king of Judah in the first half of the 9th century BCE, the son of Asa. He made peace with Israel, allied with Ahab and married his son Jehoram to Athaliah of the house of Omri, and he fought beside Israel's kings against Aram and Moab. The Bible praises him for religious reforms and for appointing judges in the towns of Judah, and Edom remained subject to him.
