Jinyang

Jinyang was an ancient city near modern Taiyuan in Shanxi, northern China. Once the base of the Zhao clan of the State of Jin, it later became a key military centre: Gao Huan controlled the Eastern Wei from it, and the Northern Qi treated it as a second capital. Li Yuan launched the rising that founded the Tang dynasty from Jinyang in 617, and the Song destroyed the city in 979 after conquering the Northern Han.
