1572–1619 · 17th century

John Sigismund was Elector of Brandenburg from 1608 to 1619. Through his marriage to Anna of Prussia he acquired claims to the Jülich–Cleves inheritance, gaining Cleves, Mark and Ravensberg by the Treaty of Xanten in 1614, and in 1618 he inherited the Duchy of Prussia.
