Juno Beach

1944 · 20th century

Juno Beach was the code name of one of the five Allied landing sectors in Normandy on D-Day, 6 June 1944, stretching around Courseulles-sur-Mer. It was assaulted by the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division with British support, which overcame strong defences at a cost of more than a thousand casualties and pushed further inland than any other Allied force that day.
