Jutland Code

1241 · 13th century · Also known as Code of Jutland

The Jutland Code is a medieval law code issued by King Valdemar II of Denmark in 1241, valid for Jutland, Funen and Schleswig. It opens with the words "with law shall the land be built" and covered land, inheritance, crime and procedure. It was largely replaced by the Danish Code of 1683 but remained in force in Schleswig until 1900.
