Kapunda

Kapunda is a town north of Adelaide in South Australia, founded after copper was found there in 1842. Its mine, opened in 1844, was the first successful metal mine in Australia, and together with the Burra mine it lifted South Australia out of its early financial crisis. Mining ended in the late 1870s, and the town keeps many 19th-century buildings.
