Karpathos

Karpathos is a mountainous Greek island in the south-eastern Aegean Sea, between Rhodes and Crete, now part of the Dodecanese. In the Hellenistic period it was ruled by Rhodes, and it later passed through Byzantine, Venetian, Ottoman and Italian rule before joining Greece after the Second World War.
