Kayı tribe
The Kayı tribe was a branch of the Oghuz Turks. Ottoman tradition holds that Osman I, the founder of the dynasty, belonged to the Kayı clan. The tribe is thus associated with the foundation of the Ottoman Empire in the Bithynian borderlands.
