Bithynia

Also known as Bithynian

Bithynia is a historical region in northwestern Anatolia, bordering the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea. In the late thirteenth century its Byzantine borderlands near Bursa were the home of the beylik of Osman I. The region's position on the frontier between the Islamic and Byzantine worlds attracted ghazi warriors and made it the cradle of the Ottoman Empire.
