Khorsabad
Khorsabad is the modern name of the site of Dur-Sharrukin, the royal city built by the Assyrian king Sargon II in northern Iraq in the late eighth century BCE. Its palace was decorated with monumental reliefs and colossal winged bull figures. The city was abandoned soon after Sargon's death, but its construction illustrates the resources the Assyrian Empire could command.
