Kinzig (Main)

The Kinzig is a river in Hesse that flows south-west between the Vogelsberg and the Spessart through Gelnhausen to join the Main at Hanau. Frederick Barbarossa built his imperial palace on an island in the river at Gelnhausen. Its valley carried the old road from Frankfurt towards Fulda and Leipzig.
