Koh-i-Noor

Also known as Kohinoor

The Koh-i-Noor, meaning 'Mountain of Light', is one of the most famous diamonds in the world, originating in India. Nader Shah of the Afsharid Empire carried it off from Delhi along with the Peacock Throne after his invasion of Mughal India in 1739. It later passed through Afghan and Sikh hands before being taken by the British, and it is now among the British Crown Jewels.
