Konrad von Heresbach

1496–1576 · 16th century · Also known as Konrad Heresbach

Konrad von Heresbach was a German humanist, jurist and agricultural writer, a friend of Erasmus and tutor to the future Duke William of Jülich-Cleves-Berg. As counsellor to Duke John III he shaped a moderate, Erasmian church policy that sought reform without breaking with Rome. His Latin work on husbandry, Rei rusticae libri quattuor (1570), was translated into English and widely read.
