Kruševo Manifesto

1903 · 20th century

The Kruševo Manifesto is a proclamation attributed to the insurgents who held Kruševo during the Ilinden Uprising of August 1903, addressed to the Muslim inhabitants of the surrounding villages. It called on them to join the struggle against Ottoman tyranny rather than treat their Christian neighbours as enemies, presenting the revolt as one against the government, not against Muslims. Its authenticity and authorship have been questioned, but it is honoured in North Macedonia.
