Krzeszów Abbey

1292 · 13th century

Krzeszów Abbey is a former Cistercian abbey in Lower Silesia, Poland, near the Czech border. Founded in 1242 for Benedictines and refounded for Cistercians by Duke Bolko I the Strict in 1292, it became the burial place of the Piast dukes of Świdnica and Jawor. Its 18th-century baroque church and ducal mausoleum are among the finest in Central Europe.
