Kyustendil
Kyustendil is a town in western Bulgaria near the borders with Serbia and North Macedonia, known for its hot springs. As Roman Pautalia it was a flourishing spa town, and in the Middle Ages, as Velbazhd, it was a regional centre near which the Serbs defeated the Bulgarians in 1330. Its modern name comes from Konstantin Dragaš, whose lordship included it before the Ottoman conquest.
