Lanciano

Also known as Anxanum

Lanciano is a town in the province of Chieti in Abruzzo, central Italy, near the Adriatic coast. As Anxanum it was one of the main centres of the Frentani, an Italic people, and later a Roman municipium. In the Middle Ages it held important trade fairs, and it is known for the Eucharistic miracle venerated in its church of San Francesco.
