Landau
Landau in der Pfalz is a town in the Palatinate, in south-western Germany. It became a free imperial city in 1291 and a member of the Decapolis of Alsatian towns in 1521. France held it from the late 17th century, when Vauban made it a fortress, until 1815; it then passed to Bavaria. It is now a university town in the wine country of Rhineland-Palatinate.
