Person
Lhalung Palgyi Dorje
Lhalung Palgyi Dorje was a ninth-century Tibetan Buddhist monk who, according to later Buddhist histories, assassinated the emperor Langdarma with an arrow, traditionally in 842, to end his persecution of Buddhism. The story, which modern historians treat with caution, became central to Tibetan memory of the fall of the empire and is re-enacted in the Black Hat dance of Tibetan monasteries.
