Life of Columba

c. 700 · 8th century · Also known as Vita Columbae

The Life of Columba is a Latin life of Saint Columba, founder of the monastery of Iona, written by Adomnán, the ninth abbot of Iona, around 700. Arranged in three books of prophecies, miracles and visions, it is the most important source for early Dál Riata, Iona and the Picts, and for the kingship of Áedán mac Gabráin.
