Livingstone, Zambia
Livingstone is a town in southern Zambia on the Zambezi River, close to the Victoria Falls, named after the explorer David Livingstone. It grew up near the new railway bridge over the falls in the early 1900s, became the capital of North-Western Rhodesia in 1907 and of Northern Rhodesia from 1911, and lost that role when the government moved to Lusaka in 1935. Today it is a centre of tourism.
