Lord Dalhousie

Lord Dalhousie was Governor-General of India from 1848 to 1856. Following the Second Anglo-Sikh War, he annexed the Punjab in 1849, bringing the Sikh Empire to an end. His expansionist policies, including other annexations, are often seen as contributing to the tensions behind the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
