Lower Creek

Also known as Lower Towns

The Lower Creek were the Muscogee towns on the Chattahoochee and Flint rivers in present-day Georgia and Alabama, distinguished from the Upper Creek towns further west. Many spoke Hitchiti rather than Muscogee. In the 18th century groups of Lower Creek moved into Florida, where they became the core of the Seminole.
