Ma'dikarib Ya'fur

r. c. 519–522 · 6th century

Ma'dikarib Ya'fur was a Christian king of Himyar in south Arabia, who probably came to power around 519 as a client of Kaleb of Aksum. An inscription of 521 at Ma'sal al-Jumh in central Arabia records his campaign there. After his death the throne passed to Yusuf As'ar Yath'ar, whose persecution of Christians led to the Aksumite invasion of 525.
