Najran
Najran is an oasis city in south-western Saudi Arabia near the Yemeni border. In late antiquity it was a major Christian centre of Arabia, whose community was massacred by the Himyarite king Dhu Nuwas in about 523. Long linked with Yemen and home to an Ismaili population, it was taken by Saudi Arabia in the war of 1934.
