Marie of Enghien
Marie of Enghien was the heiress of the Lordship of Argos and Nauplia in the Peloponnese, which she inherited from her father Guy of Enghien in the 1370s. Pressed by the Byzantine Despotate of the Morea and the Ottomans, she sold the lordship to Venice in 1388. The despot Theodore I seized Argos first, but Venice took control, creating Venetian Nauplia.
