Mbelwa
Mbelwa, also called M'mbelwa, was the ruler of the northern Ngoni of Malawi from the 1850s until his death in 1891. A son of Zwangendaba, he led one branch of the Ngoni after his father's death and settled it in the Mzimba highlands, from where his kingdom raided the Tumbuka, Tonga and Chewa. He allowed Scottish missionaries of Livingstonia to work among his people, and his successors still hold the title Inkosi ya Makosi M'mbelwa.
