Mbomou River

Also known as Bomu River, Mbomu River

The Mbomou River in central Africa forms much of the border between the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and joins the Uele to form the Ubangi. In the 19th century its banks were home to Zande and Nzakara sultanates such as Bangassou and Rafai, which traded ivory and captives before falling under French and Belgian rule.
