Megabyzus
Megabyzus (Old Persian Bagabuxša) was an Achaemenid Persian general, son of Zopyrus, satrap of Babylonia, and grandson of Megabyzus I, one of the seven conspirators who put Darius I on the throne. After his father was killed in the Babylonian revolt of 484 BCE, he led the forces that recaptured the city, and he took part in the Second Persian invasion of Greece (480–479 BCE). As satrap of Syria he commanded the army that put down the revolt of Inarus in Egypt from 456 BCE, besieging the Athenians on the island of Prosopitis for 18 months until he drained the river around it. He later revolted against Artaxerxes I, was pardoned, and died at the age of 76.
