1235–1279 · 13th century · Also known as Mongol campaigns against the Song

The Mongol conquest of the Song Dynasty was a long series of campaigns from 1235 to 1279. Song resistance was strong, with river defences and fortified cities such as Xiangyang holding out for years. Under Kublai Khan, the Mongols finally completed the conquest in 1279, uniting China under the Yuan Dynasty.
