15th century · 15th century

Muhammad ibn Falah was the founder of the Mushasha dynasty of Khuzestan. A Shia scholar from Wasit trained at Hilla, he proclaimed himself the representative of the Hidden Imam, or the Mahdi himself, in the 1430s and gathered a following among the Arab tribes of the marshes. He made Hoveyzeh his base, and his descendants later ruled the region as Safavid vassals.
