Myocheong

d. 1135 · 12th century

Myocheong was a Korean Buddhist monk and geomancer of the Goryeo period. He urged King Injong to move the capital to Pyongyang, to take the title of emperor and to defy the Jurchen Jin dynasty. When his plans were rejected he led a rebellion at Pyongyang in 1135 and was killed by his own followers; Kim Bu-sik suppressed the rising in 1136.
