Nestos
The Nestos, called the Mesta in Bulgaria, is a river of the Balkans that rises in the Rila mountains of Bulgaria and flows about 230 km south-east between the Rhodope and Pirin ranges into the Aegean Sea opposite the island of Thasos. In antiquity it marked the border between Macedonia and Thrace, and the Greek city of Abdera stood near its mouth.
